Robert C. Landau (IABE '60)
December 18, 1937 – February 13, 2015


Dr. Robert C. Landau (IABE ’60), a retired dentist who lived in Waterloo, entered the Chapter Eternal on Friday, February 13, at the Friendship Village Health Center.

Landau was born December 18, 1937 in Waterloo, son of Carl and Marion Miller Landau.  He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1956 and attended the University of Iowa.  He pledged the Iowa Beta chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and was initiated into the fraternity on March 10, 1957 and received SAE badge number 97446.

He married Joan O’Bryon June 14, 1959 in Waterloo.

After graduating the University of Iowa in 1960, Landau went to dental school there and earned a DDS degree in 1964.

He was a dentist in Waterloo for 37 years, retiring in 2000.

“Brother Landau had many friends in the fraternity and we are saddened to hear of his passing,” said Marc Rosenow (IABE ’86), president of the Iowa Beta Alumni Association.  “On behalf of all alumni, we send our deepest condolences to the Landau family.”

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kevin (Jill) Landau of Mason City; a daughter, Sara (Edward) McGarvey of Buckingham; a son-in-law, Steve McIntee of Winter Haven, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cole (Megan) Landau, Jay (Gillian) McIntee, Carrin Landau, Bobby McIntee, Steven McGarvey and Justine (Drew) Hellman; five great-grandchildren, Brooke and Carl Landau, Sadie, Anthony and Aliyah McIntee and a sister, Kay (Don) Hartson of Waterloo.

Landau was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann McIntee and a grandson, Sammy McIntee.
